I have faith in your solution for the Magnolia Bloom 😊. I have the same problem you have with the huge amount of ease in many patterns. I had to knit the junior version of the Moby sweater to obtain a reasonable fit for my taste. ❤❤❤

Hi Tash. I am really loving the Friend from the Vault segment - each week you dig out items I remember either knitting or putting in my Ravelry queue all those years ago, and it makes me feel so nostalgic . I was watching another video of yours where you showed your Marlene socks - those have been in my queue for years and seeing yours made me dive into my stash and cast on a pair straightaway! As for the Clockwork shawl/scarf, yes I knitted that one in 2011, and one of the yarns I used was some merino fingering from Skein Yarn - an Australian hand dyer who is still going. Can’t wait to watch you sort out your stash!

Hi Tash. Thanks for this vlog. It’s very clear that you can visualise stitches (ssk, m1L, m1r etc) by the expressions you have when describing them 😅 Ooh I would have been tempted to honk that horn in the middle of the night just to let them know you were on to them 😢. I live in a 2 bedroom flat/apartment so I have to keep things tidy (mostly) Good luck with keeping things tidy with 3 teenagers at home. 🙋🏼🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hello! How wonderful to be able to ask you a question. I am a long term watcher and have enjoyed your podcast so much. I really enjoy how you explain your process to us as I learn something new each time there is a new video. Thank you so much for that. I do have a question and if you already answered it sorry about that. I would love to know what was the first sweater you knit? If you remember could you explain your thoughts around it and what you learned from it. Thank you again and have a wonderful week. 😊

Congratulations on your many projects, but especially your son's concert. My son played French horn, starting in 5th grade, through college. Although he never played solo, seeing him being part of an increasingly talented band over time was so enjoyable for him to be a part of and for my husband and me to attend concerts. It made me happy that I always encouraged him to continue when he was thinking about stopping band; I would always ask him, "How many adults do you think can play a French horn? What a great thing it is to know how to play an instrument."

Do you have any advice for fitting in more knitting time? Do you do short stints of knitting throughout the day, or make time for longer knitting sessions when you have more time? How do you complete projects so quickly 🤩

Hi Tash: Awesome podcast, as usual! Thanks for sharing how you store your yarn and finished garments. My question to you how do you manage to do everything so seamlessly - amazing intricate knitting projects, job (exhausting I’ve worked as a Teacher Assistant in Pre-K before), run a household, read, exercise, and squeeze in family time? I’m retired and I have to take care of a toddler grand kid one or two days a week, food shopping, cooking from scratch, clean, bill paying, squeeze in knitting or reading. As it is, I get up 4 am in the morning to get some knitting in. I can either read or knit. Most of the time, I have to return the borrowed library barely read. I am an advance beginner knitter, I can’t even do project like the Fjolla that you are knitting. I have the pattern but would never be able to do such an intricate pattern, unfortunately. Now that you showed it as your WiP, I might give it another try. 🫢 Thanks for sharing and the knitting company. Happy knitting!❤

Hi Tina I am so sorry you have been having trouble hearing me. I am so glad you told me. I have borrowed my daughter's good quality microphone and it is on the desk in front of me but I am obviously not speaking as directly into it as i need to. I am going to purchase a microphone and stand that can come out much closer to me and i think just seeing it in front of me will help remind me to speak closer into it. I will order it this weekend but it may take a little time to get to me. In the meantime, i will make a conscious effort to speak more directly into the microphone and I hope that helps until i get the new one. Thanks for persisting with me and I would love to get feedback from you as to whether you think the sound is better or the same. Thanks so much for watching. x

Hallo. I watch your tutorials again and again. I think I'm ready to start counting the yoke of this sweater. I have one question. Could you tell me how you counted the yoke? The pattern increases 6 times. If I take 33 repetitions I will get the width but not the height (108 cm and 25 height). Should I take 30 repetitions of the pattern and add the rest on the remaining 7 cm? The best regards🙏🤓

    • @mostlyknitting
      @mostlyknitting 9 часов назад

Hi Anna There are more rows in the yoke after the grain chart. If you keep reading in the pattern, there are some extra short rows after the grains and then some even rows to get the depth. I hope that helps. :)

Hi Tash. Just found you recently and have been loving your podcasts. Tks for also inviting questions. I have two. As you live in Sydney so have hot and humid Summers, I am wondering how you find suitable patterns and suitable yarns? I live on the Mid North Coast and get so frustrated when I find “Summer” patterns made from DK weight or wool or wool/mohair as I could not wear any of them. Wool/cotton yarns seem popular o/s but I don’t see it here. Maybe it would be too hot too. Second question is easier. You showed large zip lock bags for storage. Where do you get these please? Big W used to sell good sized gusseted bags but they disappeared some while ago. Thanks, Margaret

Hi Tash! I think your plan for the Magnolia Bloom will work. At first I could notice the colour change but as you were holding it up and moving and talking I couldn’t notice it as much. I would love to see your stash! Or at least part of it. I am going to watch Bella’s video right now. I also loved the Hidden WIPs segment last week. I love seeing how experienced knitters handle things that don’t turn out as expected. It helps me greatly when I’m disappointed in an FO. Now I take the attitude of “It’s all part of the journey.”😊 I had a 10 year old WIP once. I finished it and was never so proud!

Thanks so much Elizabeth - it does make you feel good, doesnt it? I am glad that being real about the disappointments has been encouraging. They do happen sometimes. Part of life really. ;)

I’m so pleased the car was recovered and the possible offender found. I still can’t believe they stole it from your garage! Blasting the horn at 3:00 am must have been soooo tempting 😂 It’s disappointing that the same colourway has changed so dramatically for your Magnolia Boom. I noticed there were a lot of these changes during Covid, as I think a lot of dyes went from widely available to either unavailable or very hard to obtain. Particularly if they originated from overseas. This would be true for yarn bases, also. That said, I agree your blending looks great in the swatch on camera. I doubt anyone else would even notice the subtle fade.

The striped sweater is great! Nicely done!! I bet it feels amazing!! Good luck finishing the other sweaters and not running out of yarn! 🤞🏻 I was wondering how long you’ve been teaching knitting classes and what’s your favorite thing to teach. Also , do you have any tips for learning to knit faster? As a convert from crochet a few years ago I feel so slow when I knit.

Thanks so much Evie! 😊 I started teaching some of my friends how to knit in about 2009 and have been teaching at Skein Sisters since 2018. I love teaching Fair Isle and I especially love teaching anything that leaves the knitter feeling more empowered and confident to tackle whatever it is they want to make. I just realised I had planned to answer questions in a Q&A video. Ooopsie. I think they way we wrap yarn can make a difference in terms of how long it takes to make a stitch. Here is a video on how i knit. Not dropping the needle is key for fast movement for me. ruclips.net/video/1c-qgQ63HWQ/видео.htmlsi=EPJYOcul3aYdCQSM

@@mostlyknitting Thanks for the reply. I was a trainer the last 15 years of my customer service career and found it so rewarding . That makes me curious about others that teach. Thanks for the tip, I’ll check out the video.

I love the magnolia boom sweater so much! While you were describing how you are alternating the skeins, all I could think of is how gorgeous it is! If for any reason you don’t end up wanting it , I’ll be happy to take off your hands 😂😅😍❤️

The Magnolia Bloom is gorgeous! I think you blending plan sounds complicated, but it looks great on camera.

Thank you so much Jennifer. That is great to hear. I think the camera can actually exaggerate differences so if it is good on camera, it is probably just fine in real life. Phew! Thank you for the feedback. x
